Welcome to the ISCB34 in Munich

On behalf of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics, we are pleased to invite you
to the 34th Annual Conference, held in beautiful Munich, Germany, on 25-29 August 2013.
This conference will serve as an important scientific forum for the exchange of new ideas
and applications among biostatisticians, epidemiologists, medical researchers, and clinical
pharmacologists from all over the world of healthcare and medicine.

Recently, Munich created a centre for Life Sciences. It hosts two large universities, a strong
federal research centre on health, a large biotech cluster and German headquarters of
international pharmaceutical corporations. We are sure that the conference will benefit
from this stimulating environment.

An array of fascinating topics has been organized by the conference´s Scientific Programme
Committee, including biomarker-based clinical trial designs, statistics for global clinical trials,
and social networks in infectious diseases.

This year´s customary Thursday Symposium will address topics related to individual prediction,
personalized medicine, vaccination, and guidelines for prognostic research, which are sure to
provide stimulating discussions and fuel for thoughts.

The conference takes place in the historic building of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in
the centre of Munich close to the English Garden and other highlights of our city.

And of course, no trip to Munich would be complete without a stop at one of the city´s many
Biergardens to sample some of Bavaria´s traditional fare.

Visit our conference and stay a few days extra to discover the beauty of Bavaria, it´s history,
the Alps, the lakes, and the castles.

We are looking forward to meeting you here in Munich.

Sincerely yours

Ulrich Mansmann            Kurt Ulm                   Hans-Helge Müller
